The Affordable Housing Task Force is a group of engaged citizens who provide advice, guidance and support on implementing the Council-endorsed Affordable Housing Master Plan. They also serve as a forum for community conversation, communication, relationship building, advocacy and championing to promote affordable housing goals. The Task Force gives recommendations to Council, offers guidance to Town staff, and work independently or in partnerships to take action. Since the Affordable Housing Master Plan is now approved, the Task Force's focus is on education, advocacy and community engagement to support and champion affordable housing initiatives in the Town.
Board Information
The Affordable Housing Task Force consists of up to 12 voting members as further described below.
Elected Officials: Up to three (3) Members of Council
Community Members: Up to nine (9) Community Members representing various stakeholder sectors and community builders from across the community, including:
- Housing Owner/Operator
- Development or Related Industry
- Affordable housing provider
- Employer
- Board member/executive/financial expert
- Lived experience
Strong communication skills.
Experience in community engagement and organizing community events.
Experience in stakeholder engagement.
Individuals with lived experience as a member of a middle income household that has experienced challenges securing appropriate housing would be an asset.
